VDOT COMPLETES INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT AT I-95 AND MAURY STREET IN RICHMOND
Project improves safety and the flow of traffic

SOUTH CHESTERFIELD, Va. — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently completed an interchange improvements project at I-95 and Maury Street in the City of Richmond.

The purpose of the project was to improve traffic flow through the I-95/Maury Street interchange during peak hours. The project also addressed current deficiencies in capacity, geometry and safety.

Improvements included replacing the signalized intersections at the ramps to and from Maury Street at I-95 with a single lane roundabout.

“The goals of the project included improving safety and the flow of traffic to and from I-95 by eliminating prolonged periods of delays due to the traffic signals,” said Robert Poutier, P.E., Richmond District Construction Engineer. “VDOT appreciates the City of Richmond’s partnership in delivering yet another successful project.”

The $8 million project began March 2021, and was completed on time and on budget.
