FAIRFAX – The right lane of eastbound I-66 just east of the Nutley Street interchange (west of the Gallows Road overpass in Merrifield) is scheduled to be closed throughout the entire weekend beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, for crews to install permanent roadway barrier as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. On Friday night, an additional right lane will also be closed in that area from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for this work.

This barrier work will continue next week in the same area of eastbound I-66 with triple lane closures nightly Monday, Sept. 25, through Saturday, Sept. 30. Lane closures will occur each night at 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if needed.

Drivers traveling in this area should plan ahead and allow extra time, as delays may occur. The eastbound 66 Express Lanes will remain open in this area.

• A second right lane will be closed at 10 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday
• 66 Express Lanes will remain open

Overnight Hours Next Week: Monday, Sept. 25-Saturday, Sept. 30
I-66 East just east of the Nutley Street interchange (west of Gallows Road overpass)

• Three lanes will be closed nightly beginning at 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
• 66 Express Lanes will remain open; tolls will be suspended on the braided ramp from I-66 East to the eastbound 66 Express Lanes (mile marker 64 – 1/2 mile west of Gallows Road overpass)
